Then in Boston we were searching for the kiosk with a wheel on the roof we had been sent to for the harbour cruise. We could only find a kiosk with a whale on....then the penny dropped!
Also in Boston we thought we had found an appropriate place to cross the road and later learnt it was the finish line for the Boston marathon.
Eating has been interesting and a sort of feast or famine. In some places there are lots of salad bars and so we have had salad days and at other times there's not a leaf in sight. Yesterday, Saturday, in Boston we had a very healthy meal! All chocolate! The food regime has completely gone out of the window in order to have enough energy for all the exercise we are getting.
This was at Max Brenner's chocolate cafe. Getting a hot drink can be challenging as many of the fast food outlets only do cold drinks. The previous day we had a substantial lunch at Quincy market where there are numerous food outlets. We visited the 'chowda' stall as there was a big queue, good sign, and had fish chowder and fish pie. No supper needed after that.
Last night we went to the local mall where food from all nationalities is available, and had a super Mediterranean supper for under 10$. We had to queue up and choose our elements and it came in a paper bowl with plastic forks but was excellent and fresh. All all the cutlery and dishes are compostable, so green in intention even if we can't find green food! In Washington our one restaurant meal cost 100$ for one plate each and a glass of wine!
We have also come across some most interesting and sometimes puzzling signs. Those about lavatory cleanliness are very explicit! And our car is clearly a Friday afternoon model!
