I had a coffee on arrival and asked for an explanation of London fog I saw on the menu. Apparently it's earl grey tea with vanilla syrup poured over steamed milk. Maybe I'll try one when I'm feeling brave.
The gardens are beautiful, described by the coach driver as containing nothing unusual but being beautifully arranged. They are quite formal and have a theatre and an area for regular firework displays. There are various garden areas with distinctive characteristics .
The sunken garden
Dahlias, some were enormous!
A most unusual tree
The red sequoias
The rose garden
The Italian garden

On my return, I had a lovely leisurely lunch in a cafe called Nourish, every time I have passed it before it has been closed. I had a delicious lentil soup with a salad of greens and beets and a drink called Angel mist, which was pink refreshing and with mint in it!
Next I'm off to bus station for the ferry connector service, and when I get to Vancouver I must sort laundry and repack for an overnight train journey to Jasper and some warmer clothes !
Now the laundry, that was an interesting experience! I had saved my loose change only to find that I needed 3x$2 in one dollar coins, that was after I'd called the concierge to the laundry room on the top floor. But he very kindly went to the lobby and changed my money for me and came back up again. Then I discovered the water machine was on the next floor up. So by the time I had gone up and down for the washing machines and the dryer and the water machines, I had nearly worn out the elevator. But I have a case full of clean clothes!
